Pink Flowers for Summer Weddings

The Perfect Pink Wedding Flowers 2011
With summer just around the corner, it is time to choose your wedding flowers! Beautiful blossoms in your bouquets and centerpieces will create a romantic ambiance which is sure to enhance your wedding. Pink is one of the prettiest colors for summer flowers, and happily also one of the most abundant. These are some of the most wonderful pink flowers for summer weddings.

If you are a classic bride, you simply cannot beat pink roses for your bouquets and centerpieces. Along with pearl bridal jewelry, roses are one of the symbols of June, making them ideal for any June bride. A pale pink nosegay of roses with accents of white stephanotis would be gorgeous for a formal summer wedding. Add pearl tipped pins through the centers of the stephanotis blossoms to complement your pearl bridal jewelry. For a very romantic summer bouquet, choose deep pink garden roses and loosely arrange them with trailing ivy, herbs, or soft lamb's ear leaves. Hot pink roses make amazing centerpieces when arranged atop tall clear vases filled with limes or small green apples.

Peonies are another wonderful choice for an early summer bride. The lush, full blossoms are impossibly beautiful. They are breathtaking for single variety bouquets, or combine pink peonies with white garden roses and pale green hydrangeas for a classic bouquet with a preppy twist. Because they are so round and full, peonies are an excellent flower choice for silver julep cup centerpieces on the reception tables. One lush blossom is enough to fill the small cup; set one julep cup in front of each place setting with a larger centerpiece in the middle of the table.

Lilies can be an excellent option for a summer wedding. Vivid hot pink Stargazer lilies are a great choice when you want flowers with a big "wow" factor. They work well for both tropical theme weddings and more formal, grand celebrations. A cascade bouquet of Stargazer lilies is a bold and fabulous choice for the bride who wants her flowers to really make a splash. The huge size of the blooms makes them outstanding for very full centerpiece arrangements as well. Always be certain that the orange pollen has been removed from the centers of lilies before they are used in bouquets or centerpieces, as it creates a terrible stain.

What about gerbera daisies? They can be a delightful option for a casual summer celebration. A simple round bouquet of light pink and dark pink gerbera daisies is a terrific bouquet for a country wedding. They can also be used in some unique modern ways. Individual blossoms can be strung on clear monofiliment wire and suspended behind the ceremony altar for a very cool effect. Or create a simple but striking centerpiece by making a row of test tubes in holders down the center of long reception tables. Pop a single hot pink gerbera daisy into each test tube for a bright contemporary table decoration. If you want to mix it up a bit, alternate orange and yellow gerbera daisies with the pink blossoms.

There are many other fabulous pink flowers available to summer brides. From hydrangeas to stock, zinnias to celosia, spectacular flowers are in abundance all throughout the peak summer wedding season. Whether your wedding style is classic, formal, beachy, or casual, there will be pink flowers which are just perfect for you.  Guy Antonelli
